Advice after urgent suspected cancer referral when cancer is not found: survey of patients' preferences and perceived acceptability
We contacted patients 1-3 months after they had been discharged from an urgent suspected cancer referral, after tests ruled out cancer. The survey asked patients about their views on receiving advice after referral that was aimed at encouraging earlier diagnoses, or reducing the risk of, future cancer. The three main outcomes were: willingness to receive advice after cancer referral, acceptability of receiving advice after referral and lastly preferences regarding the timing, mode and source of advice. We also collected data related to socio-demographics, health related behaviours and health status.
